how to fuel pump alltrac.
« on: May 22, 2015, 01:04:45 AM »
Well i recently acquired a trac that didn't start due to fuel concerns and narrowed it down to the pump. So I started to follow fellow trac owners, allen helped out  So day or tw before I started to take everything apart I grabbed a can of wd40 and went to town on every single nut and bolt so I wouldn't have a bunch of broken nuts and bolts.
Before you jack up the car make sure to go in the hatch and disconnect the electrical connectors for the sending unit and pump.
So first thing I did was removed the filler neck so I can siphon the fuel out of the tank so when I drop the tank its not all swish swashing all over the place jack the car up to a fairly good height  tank is fairly tall. The filler neck is held on by either 6 or 8 bolts then remove the fuel cap to release pressure in the fuel system then wiggle the neck out of the way.
Once the neck is out of the way siphon all the fuel out, then proceed to remove the under cover its secured by six bolts once removed remove cover and you can see two straps that hold the tank in place. You will see three lines that must be disconnected. Once those are disconnected you can proceed to drop the tank.

The nuts that hold the straps on are usually rusted out and  When trying to remove the nuts you will possibly break that bracket so what I did was remove the two bolts that hold the bracket to the frame. While removing the straps make sure you have some sort of support system such as a trans jack as the tank is big and awkward. Once the tank is down pull the vent tube off then remove the pump assembly and replace the pump and strainer and put together as necessary. Then replace everything in the order it was taken apart.
this is the pump replaced and all connected.
