IS300/GS300 Rear BBK
« on: April 08, 2020, 06:46:30 PM »
Due to the popularity I developed an IS300/Altezza rear BBK
*edit: also fits GS300 and GS400

You'll need:

——————CALIPERS—————
02-10 VW Toureg
03-10 Porsche Cayenne
05-15 Audi Q7

(I have found car-part.com is the cheapest place to search, its an annoying website but yields the cheapest prices outside of local junkyards)

PNs  20.7673.03 and 20.7673.04 (see pictures for the location)

—————-HARDWARE—————-

4x hex M12-1.75x25 (30mm will work as well)
(McmasterCarr.com PN 98093A746)

4x hex M14-1.5x30 (35mm long will work as well)
(or reuse the hardware from Cayenne/Toureg/Q7, Even though they are a bit long.)
(Mcmastercarr.com PN 91180A778)

———————-ROTORS—————-

2x 2008-2014 ISF rear brake rotor  PN PRT6106

——brake lines——
Stock brake lines can be used although I would recommend getting stainless braided lines as it improves feel vastly.  (testing soon)

NOTE: Calipers will need to be modified but only slightly.
Depending on brand of pads clearancing the of weights might be needed. (see later posts)
I found this tool works very well for this little bit of clearancing and is pretty damn cheap!

https://www.harborfreight.com/power-tools/grinders-sanders/portable-belt-sanders/53-amp-12-in-heavy-duty-bandfile-belt-sander-62863.html

Their sanding belts are kinda shitty so prep for using a few.

**You will remove the brake line cover and the rubber isolator and bend the brake line up and away from the rotor area.**

**the brake lines and bleeders need to be flipped as the small pistons are on the top and the big pistons are on the bottom.**

Very excited to see pictures. Just finishing up the front BBK that I got from you and matching rears would look awesome.

These are the caliper PN's I used. I would imagine there are alternates that are the same (the last 2 digits are usually different if they are a variant.)

This is the amount of clearancing required, it is very light relative to the front bbk.

The modification to the crossover tube is here.

The rubber needs to be removed from the line itself. The line cover cannot be used without mods, I omitted it.

The line should be bent carefully away from the rotor. Without the rubber part it will have more space to move.

This is the rear hardware that can be reused. This is the socket I found that fits haha. It's not the right way, but it does work. Cheap at harbor freight with the kit.

This shows roughly how tight the line needs to tuck to the caliper to both keep it safe and clear.

The green arrow and red boxes show a point that potentially might need clearancing depending on variances in pads. I have some that cleared and some that didn't.

this shows the brake line crossover and the bleeders that need to be swapped.

you can see here how similarly placed the caliper is, this means the stock brake line will work.
