Alright so I see a lot of people going to the eBay hot air intakes, thinking it is the only way to replace the rotted stock intake hose. This is what I ended up with that has been working very well for 3 years now.
The end product
Now the other option is to run pipe down into the fender well but why do all that when the factory intake already does. It also has a snorkel that runs right up behind the headlight.
So what I did is seal off where the snorkel went into the air box, and drilled a hole in the bottom of the box in the fender. This was more provisions to run ducts to the front bumper.
So the parts needed are:
2- 45 degree couplers (I used ones with 6" legs)
4- 2.25 hose clamps
6" of 2.25 pipe (This will depend on how long your couplers are)
Take one coupler and cut one leg 1" from the middle of the inside bend. This will be for the throttle body side.
Cut the second one 1.5" from the middle of the inside bend. This will be the air box side.
I put mine together with the top of the air box leaving the clamps somewhat loose so you can rotate as needed. Tighten the clamps once you have everything situated. Now when you need to take it off just pop the latches that hold the air box together and loose just the clamp on the throttle body so that it is easy to reassemble.
Now put it all together with a good clean filter and drive and enjoy the car lol
